Refinery extends U.S. WTI crude buying spree into July
Trading sources said the Dangote refinery booked at least five million barrels of U.S. WTI crude for July delivery, extending record purchases seen in June. The 650,000 bpd complex is gradually scaling operations and testing grades, with import volumes adjusting as units ramp up and undergo maintenance.
Dangote Refinery announced the import of 4,000 natural gas‑powered trucks to deliver products directly to large customers nationwide. The investment aims to lower logistics costs and improve availability by bypassing middlemen, aligning with a gradual shift to gas‑powered transport. Analysts say the move could pressure margins for traditional fuel marketers while improving supply reliability.
